priorities 01

same-day voter registration

Mississippi currently has a 30-day voter registration deadline, which makes the voting process inaccessible to some. Same Day Voter Registration would allow eligible voters to register and vote on Election Day, ensuring that people who experience life changes or miss the deadline are not excluded from the democratic process. Same-day registration addresses the inequities faced by young voters, people who have moved, and those impacted by delays.

priorities 02

restoration of the ballot initiative process

Restoring the ballot initiative process is essential to empowering Mississippi voters and ensuring their voices are heard in the policymaking process. By reinstating the ability for the community to propose and vote on constitutional amendments, we strengthen democratic participation and give voters a direct say in critical issues like voting rights, healthcare, criminal justice reform, education, and etc.

priorities 03

no-excuse early voting

No-excuse Early Voting would allow voters to cast ballots in person before Election Day. This would reduce barriers to participation for working-class, disabled, and rural voters, ensuring that voters’ access to the polls isn’t limited by work schedules or other personal constraints. Expanding early voting is essential for increasing voter turnout and addressing the inequities in our electoral system.

priorities 05

felony restoration

Voting Rights should be automatically restored for formally incarcerated individuals. Mississippi’s current laws disproportionately impact Black and Brown communities. Restoring voting rights upon completion of sentences is a critical step in dismantling systemic disenfranchisement and advancing racial justice.

priorities 04

Establishing a statewide voting rights act

The Robert G. Clark, Jr. Voting Rights Act will protect against the dilution of Black voting power, prohibit voter intimidation, create an independent Mississippi Voting Rights Commission to administer a state-level preclearance process, and strengthen protections for minority and disabled voters – ensuring every Mississippian has a fair and equal opportunity to participate in the democratic process.
