Mississippi Engaged ensures underserved communities have the capacity to secure parity, power, and civil rights by building power within local communities. We increase the civic participation of historically marginalized local communities through nonpartisan voter registration, organizing, mobilizing, and advocacy on the issues important to our communities.
We provide research and data analysis to effectively build power at the local level across Mississippi and to ensure voters are educated. We provide local partner organizations with accurate and regular polling and surveying of Mississippi voters of all ages and living in different geographic locations across the state. Our research aims to understand the issues marginalized and underrepresented voters care about, how they perceive their power and the importance of voting, and what they need to make informed decisions.
Unfortunately, Mississippi is known for its egregious voter suppression history. This history and even some current practices have continued to have a deterring effect on civic participation. Mississippi Engaged seeks to increase participation among eligible voters. We recognize the right to vote and have our voices heard is fundamental to our democracy. Through our voter protection efforts, we make sure that every eligible Mississippi voter can access the voting booth. By supporting election protection programming, we help Mississippians navigate the voting process and cast their votes without obstruction, confusion, or intimidation.
We train, equip, and mobilize the next generation of movement builders with an understanding of civic engagement and organizing, paired with an ability to integrate data & technology. Mississippi Engaged provides education on voting rights through the dissemination of facts, charts, graphs, and statistics.
